Kinsta vs SiteGround: plans, billing and cost as traffic grows

Kinsta sizes plans by visits or bandwidth, SiteGround by suggested visits and a first-term promotion. What each costs at several traffic levels.

The short answer

Kinsta and SiteGround reach a growing site by different routes. Kinsta sells plans sized by estimated monthly visits or by server bandwidth, with a fixed price for each step: $35 a month for 35,000 visits on one install, $70 for 70,000 on two, $115 for 125,000 on five, rising to $450 for 750,000 on forty. SiteGround sells three plans with a low first-term price and a renewal about four times higher, and gives each a suggested number of monthly visits: about 10,000, 100,000 and 400,000. The first looks like a staircase of managed plans, the second like a promotion followed by a renewal.

The two are priced in different currencies (Kinsta's page in US dollars, SiteGround's EU site in euros excluding VAT) and are not converted, so compare each host with itself. The visit figures are Kinsta's estimates on its visits billing basis; on its bandwidth basis the same plans are sized by server bandwidth (Single is 20 GB). The first month is listed as free, annual billing saves two months, and the page lists 14-day backup retention, 24/7 support and unlimited free migrations. Extra sites cost $30 a month each. The page does not state a renewal price after the first year, so none is given here. Our dated rows are on the Kinsta page.

SiteGround: a first term, then renewal

SiteGround's plan cards say "unlimited traffic", while its full feature list gives a "suitable number of monthly visits" for each plan; the figures above are that suggestion, not a hard limit. The first-term price needs a prepaid term and the renewal is roughly four times higher (StartUp 4.0×, GrowBig 4.0×, GoGeek 3.7×, our arithmetic). Prices are for SiteGround's EU site; visitors from other countries may see another currency, as the SiteGround page notes.

Side by side: catalogue rates

Values come from our catalogue with the date each was checked; “No data” means we have not verified it. The table shows facts only — our assessment is in the text.

Choose by how you want growth to be priced

Kinsta fits a team that wants growth to arrive as a published step in price, with support, backups and migrations named on the page, and that can pay its monthly or annual rate from day one. SiteGround fits a team that will take a prepaid first term and plan for a renewal near four times higher, and that accepts a suggested rather than guaranteed visit range. If you expect traffic above SiteGround's suggested 400,000 visits, the plans priced here run out sooner on that side. This is an editorial summary of published list prices, not a ranking and not based on testing either host.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Kinsta more expensive than SiteGround?

On list prices, yes at every comparable step, but in different currencies and for different things. Kinsta's entry plan is $35 a month ($350 a year); SiteGround's first-year price for StartUp is €47.88 and for GrowBig €83.88, with renewals of €191.88 and €335.88 a year. Kinsta lists support, backups and migrations on the plan page; compare the feature lists before reading price alone.

How does each host handle growing traffic?

Kinsta lists a larger plan for each step, from 35,000 estimated visits on Single up to 750,000 on WP 40. SiteGround lists suggested visits for each of its three plans (about 10,000, 100,000 and 400,000) and says its cards offer unlimited traffic; the pages we read do not describe what happens beyond the suggested figure.

What do they renew at?

SiteGround's EU site shows StartUp renewing at €15.99 a month, GrowBig at €27.99 and GoGeek at €39.99 after a 12-month first term. Kinsta's pricing page shows no renewal price after the first year.

Which currency are the prices in?

Kinsta's page was read in US dollars and SiteGround's EU site in euros excluding VAT. We do not convert them, because we have no verified exchange rate for the date.
