Hostinger vs SiteGround: first-term price, renewal and four-year cost

Both advertise a low first-term price and a higher renewal. What each plan costs by term, what it renews at, and what four years adds up to.

The short answer

Both hosts sell on a low first-term price and renew at a much higher one, so the number that matters is not the banner price but what you pay over the years you expect to stay. On Hostinger the term you pick changes the first price a lot (Premium is $3.99 a month on a 12-month term and $2.49 on 48 months) but not the renewal, which is $10.99 a month for the same term either way. On SiteGround the first-term price is for 12 months prepaid and the plans renew at about four times that price.

The two prices below are in different currencies (Hostinger's page in US dollars, SiteGround's EU site in euros, excluding VAT) and are not converted, so compare each host with its own renewal rather than the two banner numbers with each other. For the wider market see our guide to WordPress hosting prices, renewals and limits.

The page was showing a Black Friday campaign on 2 November 2026, with the 48-month term labelled best value, so the first-term prices can change. It lists a 30-day money-back guarantee, a free domain for the first year and two free mailboxes per website for the first year on Premium. Premium covers 3 websites, 20 GB SSD storage and weekly backups; Unlimited covers unlimited websites, 50 GB NVMe storage and daily backups. The page does not state whether the prices include tax. StartUp covers one website with about 10,000 visits and 10 GB; GrowBig unlimited websites, about 100,000 visits and 50 GB; GoGeek unlimited websites and 100 GB. The first-term price needs a prepaid term and the renewal is roughly four times it (StartUp 4.0×, GrowBig 4.0×, GoGeek 3.7×, our arithmetic). Prices are for SiteGround's EU site; visitors from other countries may see another currency, as the SiteGround page notes.

Side by side: catalogue rates

Catalogue entry prices: the lowest non-promotional rates, which for both hosts are the renewal rates

Values come from our catalogue with the date each was checked; “No data” means we have not verified it. The table shows facts only — our assessment is in the text.

Choose by the term you can commit to and the renewal you can live with

Hostinger gives you a choice of terms with a first price that falls the longer you commit, and a renewal that is the same whichever term you took; it fits someone who will commit for two to four years and wants the lowest first-term price. SiteGround gives one 12-month promotion and a renewal near four times that; it fits someone who prefers a one-year commitment and will re-evaluate each year. Whichever you pick, put the renewal price in your budget, not the banner price. This is an editorial summary of published list prices, not a ranking and not based on testing either service.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Hostinger or SiteGround cheaper?

It depends on the term and on which price you compare. The first-term prices are in different currencies and are not converted. Within each host the renewal is what counts: Hostinger Premium renews at $10.99 a month and SiteGround StartUp at €15.99 a month, both for the same term length as the one you bought.

What does Hostinger renew at?

The pricing page we read on 2 November 2026 shows Premium renewing at $10.99 a month and Unlimited at $16.99 a month for the same term, whether you bought 12, 24 or 48 months. A 1-month term renews at its own price of $12.19 or $18.99.

Does SiteGround offer terms other than 12 months?

The pricing information we recorded is for a 12-month prepaid term. Check SiteGround's checkout for other terms before you decide.

Do the prices include VAT?

SiteGround's prices on the EU site are shown excluding VAT. Hostinger's page does not state whether tax is included, so check the total at checkout.

Is there a money-back period?
