ShipStation alternatives for a small online store

Shippo for the US, Sendcloud for Europe and the built-in label tools of Shopify and WooCommerce, with the regions and limits stated.

By Nikita LatyshevPublished Prices and specs update from our catalogue

This page looks at alternatives to ShipStation for a small online store on Shopify or WooCommerce and says which situation each one fits. Shippo is read in a US context in US dollars, like ShipStation. Sendcloud is a European product priced in euros and is presented separately, as a European alternative rather than a like-for-like swap; its figures come from its English pricing page, and its national pages show different amounts. We read each product's own pages on 29 October 2026; sums are never converted between currencies. We did not test the products and make no claim about savings on postage, sales or growth. Details are on the product pages: Shippo and Sendcloud. For a US head-to-head see ShipStation vs Shippo; for how the fees are built see shipping software pricing.

Which option for which store

  • A US store that wants a lower list price or a free start: Shippo, whose Starter plan is free for a small number of labels and whose Pro plan allows your own carrier account at no extra label fee.
  • A US store that needs your own carrier account on a mid plan, more users or a refund window: stay with ShipStation Standard or compare it directly with Shippo.
  • A European store: Sendcloud, priced in euros with a monthly fee plus a per-label fee. It is not a swap for a US plan: the region, the carriers and the fee shape all differ.
  • A very small volume: the built-in label tools of Shopify or WooCommerce, or a free plan, may be enough.
  • A store shipping from a country none of these pages cover: check carriers and countries first; this page does not cover you.

How we verify

Built-in tools first

Shopify lets you buy, print and manage discounted labels from supported carriers in the admin; eligibility depends on the carrier and country, the discount varies by Shopify plan, and we did not read Shopify's billing page for labels. WooCommerce Shipping buys labels from the order screen for stores based in the United States that use US dollars; it needs a WordPress.com connection, charges labels to the payment method saved there and does not show live rates at checkout.

If you are moving from ShipStation

ShipStation plans are charged for the following month of service. Cancelling is done in the app's subscription settings, and downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle; its pricing page also states a 90-day full refund promise. We have not tested a move between platforms, so check in a free plan or trial how your store connections, carrier accounts and saved rules carry over before you cancel.

What this page does not cover

  • Easyship, Pirate Ship, Veeqo and other shipping tools, which we did not read.
  • Postage prices for any parcel.
  • Fulfilment and 3PL services, which are a different decision and are priced by quote.
  • Prices for ShipStation and Shippo outside the United States, and for Sendcloud outside Europe.
  • Sendcloud's prices on its national pages, which differ from the English page.

Our take

For a US store, Shippo is the nearest alternative to ShipStation; for a European store, Sendcloud is a separate, euro-priced option. Start from the region you ship from, then compare the plan fee, the per-label fee and your own carrier-account needs.
